- Italy – Home Stripes

Italy often do this and I really enjoy it every time. I don’t know why other countries don’t do this with their own ‘tricolore’. Many of you will know how dedicated I am to proclaiming how stylish the Italians are but this year I was bitterly disappointed with the massive ‘ITALIA’ on the back of their pre-match suit jackets – a true shocker! Especially given how good they looked last Euros.

- Belgium – Away Shorts

Originally I thought ‘yummy, this must be in honour of all that lovely chocolate they produce!” But no, it is in fact much more intricate than so. The whole away kit is actually inspired by the drip of the famous comic book character Tintin, created by Belgian cartoonist Hergé. One mayo chip please!

- France – Oversized Gallic Rooster

This large coq on the front of the France jerseys this year split opinions, unlike the away kit which the majority of people loved. I actually preferred the home shirt and I actually actually hated the fact they wore the away kit much more than the home kit. I guess it was driving the pinstripe sales through the roof.

- Portugal – Away Shirt

An ode to an ancient Portuguese tile making craft. Makes me want to eat a Pastel De Nata and drink a heavy port!

- Denmark – Away Collar & Everything Else

The Great Danes. A surprise champion. I’ve respected the work of Hummel before but to be honest I forgot about their existence until I saw that away kit with that collar. Maybe the Great Danes had a collar because of the whole dog thing? Probably not. Anyways, top marks to Denmark, I thought all of their stuff was brilliant this year. I’d also like to add that I love when a company from the nation produces the kit for the national team. Wikipedia says Hummel is a ‘German-founded Danish manufacturing company of sportswear’ so close enough! Cinnamon Danish on me!
